IL CILENTO
We meet the “ CILENTO “ south of Naples between Salerno’s and Polocastro’s Bay.

For centuries it has inspired poets and singers, by Omero with the sirens who lived on Punta Licosa’s Island to Virgilio which is falling Palinuro, the helmsman of Aeneas, just in the water around the promontory, that for this reason was named Capo Palinuro.

The first men lived in the coastal caves of Cilento and Camerota, where were found remains of camaerotensis man. As well as in Palinuro, Castelcivita , Paestum have been found remains dating back to the Stone Age until the Metal Age.
Cilento is………….World Heritage..
Already National Park of Cilento and Vallo di Diano, wich safequard the history, monuments , culture, the Cilento was added in 1998, with the archeological sites of Paestum and Velia, in the list of World Heritage.
